, I have come to form a negative opinion of Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. The Packers have become one of the most consistently sloppy teams in the entire league. The Packers have a bunch of penalties and dropped passes every single week. They never cease to kill their own drives by screwing up some very simple things. The Packers also really struggle to pick up blitzes and they cannot run block at all. Put simply, they show poor execution week in and week out. There is only one place to put the blame for this kind of thing. It all starts at the top and McCarthy, for whatever reason, cannot get these basic problems fixed. McCarthy probably is not the worst coach in the league, but the bottom line is that McCarthy is not good enough to win us a championship. Therefore, we should get rid of him right now and get a higher caliber coach right now.
I had initially hoped that all the early season penalties and dropped passes were just nerves and that it would Jets Replica Jersey get cleaned up after the first week or two. That has not happened at all. It is obvious to the world what the problems are so they must be talking about it in practice. Yet we continue to pile up the penalty numbers as if we are the Oakland Raiders or something. So what does this mean?
It means that McCarthy cannot control his players well enough to change their behaviors. This is something that a head coach needs to do in order to lead a team to the promised land. Given that conclusion, it does not make sense at all to stick with McCarthy any longer. We might as well move on to another coach that has the right set of traits, has a winning track record, or has served as Jets Replica Jersey an assistant coach in the right system, like the Patriots. Look at how well McDaniels is doing in Denver; it may be worth the time to check out the rest of the coaches that have been in New England for a while.
McCarthy on the other hand seems to tolerate mediocrity much too easily. Although the Packers beat the Lions 26-0, I thought that the Packers looked like crap. They had all those penalties and they still could not block the defensive line for the run or pass. And those were the Lions\' backup defensive linemen. But what was McCarthy\'s reaction after the game? Not one of disgust, but he actually seemed to feel good about the game. If he felt good about that game, then the standards that he holds our Jets Replica Jersey players too are very low. He does not strive for perfection, just pretty good. That is his goal, to be pretty good.
McCarthy has also shown some extremely poor decision making. I do not remember exactly what happened off the top of my head in the Minnesota game, but the first play he challenged was a horrible challenge. It was obvious that the right call was made and he threw out his challenge flag, even after an entire TV timeout, just because he did not like the result of the play. As a head coach in the NFL, it is foolish to waste a challenge early in a huge game simply because the outcome of a play was bad. This is the direct result of emotional thinking, not logical/rational decision making. I personally would be much more comfortable with a coach that kept a cool head and made good decisions. McCarthy just is not that smart of a guy.
I do not have a list of the coaches that are available, but there has to be some out there that would be better than McCarthy. The one that I am really interested in is John Gruden. He has Green Bay ties as he was on Holmgren\'s staff back in the 1990\'s glory days. He is also a guy that that does not tolerate it when their players play like crap. That is just the type of leader that the Packers need right now.
So do I really think that they will get rid of McCarthy? You will have to go to PackerAuthority.com to find out...
